Regulations
So that everyone can participate in their personal leisure activities in total security here is some information about the regulations in force on Sanguinet lake.
Arrangements wich apply to all types of craft
300 metre wide inshore strip of water
Along the shoreline has been established a continuous 300 metre wide zone out into the lake called the “bande de rive”. The whole of the “conche de Sanguinet” is considered part of the “bande de rive”. The speed of all craft is limited to 5 kmph in the “bande de rive”.
It is marked out to the west by 8 spherical yellow buoys 80 centimetres in diameter between “Put Blanc” and Estey marina.
Supervised bathing areas
Safe bathing areas have been established in which all water traffic is forbidden.
Water-skiing
A zone is reserved for waterskiing beyond the “conche”. Covering 300 metres by 1500 metres, it is situated parallel to the military zone and 300 metres from it. It is marked by lines of yellow, 60 centimetre diameter spherical buoys at 300 metre intervals. Within this zone, bathing and sub aqua diving are forbidden.
Windsurfing
Windsurfing is forbidden on the entire lake before 10.00 unless in association with the Sanguinet sailing school.
Kite surfing
Kite surfing or similar activity is forbidden in the “Conche of Sanguinet” wich is marked out by yellow buoys, as shown on the enclosed plan.
Sub aqua diving
Sub aqua diving is totally forbidden at all times inside the firing range area. It is also forbidden in the zones reserved for water-skiing and jet skiing as well as on archaeological sites. It is permitted outside these zones but only between dawn and dusk and on the condition that strict adherence to the rules governing the sport is observed.
Military zone
The zone shown on the west of he plan indicates the firing range of the Cazaux airbase.
Entry is forbidden to all craft on work days. Traffic is however permitted on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays unless there is a decision to the contrary made by the airbase.
On the lake the military zone is marked out by 1 meter diameter made by the airbase.
The northern part, the so-called 300 metre zone, (yellow buoys topped with a solid red flame) is permanently forbidden to navigation. Non respect of this regulation exposes you to the risk of physical injury (live firing range) and legal penalties.
- The use of and access to the Beau Rivage, Pavillon and Estey marinas is reserved for fishing boats, sailing boats or motor boats in a good state of repair and fully operational.
- Berths are allocated by the Mayor on the recommendation of the Commission du Lac according to the number of available spaces and on receipt of a formal, written request.
- Each anchorage point is marked by a number.
- Boats may only be moored at the berths provided.
- The allocation of an anchorage point, being strictly on a named, individual basis, cannot under any circumstances be transferred. In the event of the sale of a boat moored in a marina, the occupant of the anchorage must immediately inform the Mairie.
- Boats must be firmly secured and fitted with protectors (fenders, shock absorbers) in such a way as to avoid any damage to neighbouring boats. All damage caused by the absence of these protectors or their inefficiency will be the responsibility of the owner of the boat concerned.
- Boats are admitted to the marinas only on presentation of an up to date insurance certificate and covering, at least, the following risks :
§ Incidents of damage caused to the marina installations, of whatever kind, by the boat or by the occupants.
§ Re-floating and the collection of debris in the case of sinking inside the marinas or fairway.
§ Third person physical damage as well as property damage inside the marinas, including that witch results from a boat fire or an escaping fuel surface fire.
The occupant of an anchorage must also ensure that the disc proving payment of the navigation tax together with that proving the right to use the anchorage point are visibly affixed to the boat. These discs are strictly non-transferable.
The use of the slipway is obligatory for all launches and retrievals.
Note for 2006 : rules for motorised craft excluding boats
The use of motorised craft registered or not : jet ski, junior jet ski and craft of similar type, hovercraft, lightweight, hydroplane permitted between the hours of 15.00 and 19.00 Monday to Thursday on Cazaux Sanguinet lake in the department of Les Landes;
